I am very thankful to the Foundation for Free Speech in Afghanistan for providing me a brand new laptop computer in a situation when a drop is a big sea for me. What a journalist wants and needs is a free environment to write and speak out what he sees. That purpose needs tools and equipments to work with.
Since the recent establishment of this foundation it has been working on lobbying for more freedom for and making efforts to support the rights of individual journalists and journalistic organizations in Afghanistan.
For example, joining the global campaign for immediate release of Parwiz Kambakhsh a young Afghan journalist being arrested and allegedly tortured by the government and intelligence services in the Northern city of Afghanistan Mazar-e-Sharif for printing documents from the internet that were considered to be non-Islamic, is one of the recent initiatives of this foundation.
We wish the immediate release of Parwiz Kambakhsh, as well as the success of this foundation in the future. I also ask other international freedom of speech organizations to support it to support freedom of speech and freedom of expression in Afghanistan.
